Propaganda, a method of persuasion that attempts to influence the emotions, attitudes, opinions and actions of people is used for ideological, political and/or commercial purposes. Modern day propaganda has many media resources to influence the thought processes of the populace.  During the era of the American Revolution, the American colonies had a flourishing network of newspapers and printers who specialized in the use of propaganda on behalf of the Patriots and somewhat for loyalists.   On March 14, the Rehoboth Beach Museum will present historian John Gauger discussing the use of propaganda during the American Revolution.  Mr. Gauger has collected examples of propaganda proliferated during the American Revolution.  The program will consist of a slide show and lecture.  Mr. Gauger, a retired professor of history and political science at Lehigh Carbon Community College in Allentown PA and Muhlenberg College.  He recently appeared at the Museum with a lecture on the history of the Electoral College.   Rehoboth Beach Museum is currently undergoing renovation of our second floor so the program will be held at Epworth Methodist Church in Scott’s Chapel, Wednesday, March 14th 1—3pm.  Epworth Methodist Church is located at 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE. For reservations call the Museum at 302-227-7310 and leave message with your name and telephone number on answering machine.  Someone will be checking it periodically.  Please do not call the Church. Reservations will only be taken at the Museum.
